چکیده

We have developed a low noise, low power charge sensitive ampli er and pulse shaping circuit. Our application is for a double-sided germanium strip detector, nominally providing 50 independent spectroscopy channels. An array of these detectors would provide signi cant improvements in imaging, spectroscopy, and sensitivity for space-based gamma-ray astronomy. The key features of these electronics are low noise, very low power, and small footprint per channel. Performance of our rst circuit is in good agreement with simulations, with 205e noise rms (0 pF), and 3 mW/channel power consumption. Dynamic range is 0{ 3.3 MeV (germanium) with a linearity of 0:6%. Performance of this prototype device will be discussed.

A Preamplifier-Shaper-Stretcher Integrated Circuit System for Use with Germanium Strip Detectors

A 16-channel Integrated Circuit readout electronics chip is being developed for use with a germanium strip detector. Such a system will provide superior energy resolution with 2dimensional imaging in a single instrument that can be used for X-ray imaging and nuclear line gamma-ray spectroscopy. As part of the total ASIC development, prototype ICs of a typical channel have been designed, fabrica...

Automated 2D IR spectroscopy using a mid-IR pulse shaper and application of this technology to the human islet amyloid polypeptide.

The capability of 2D IR spectroscopy to elucidate time-evolving structures is enhanced by a programmable mid-IR pulse shaper that greatly improves the ease, speed, and accuracy of data collection. Traditional ways of collecting 2D IR spectra are difficult to implement, cause distorted peak shapes, and result in poor time resolution and/or phase problems. We report on several methods for collect...

A digital method for separation and reconstruction of pile-up events in germanium detectors.

The problem of pulse pile-up is very often encountered in precise measurements of γ-rays using germanium detectors. The standard method of treating the pile-up events is to identify and reject them using an appropriate electronic system. Digital acquisition techniques now allow the recording of waveforms of pile-up events that can be analyzed and the contributing single pulses recovered, rather...

Noise Analysis of Radiation Detector Charge Sensitive Amplifier Architectures

In this work, a detailed comparison of four equivalent charge-sensitive, folded-cascode amplifiers in terms of noise performance is presented. A couple of complementary structures, one with a noise-optimised input nMOSFET and the other with a noise-optimised input pMOSFET were designed in 0.35 μm CMOS process by Austria MicroSystems (AMS). Another couple of complementary structures consisting o...

Ge microdisk with lithographically-tunable strain using CMOS-compatible process.

We present germanium microdisk optical resonators under a large biaxial tensile strain using a CMOS-compatible fabrication process. Biaxial tensile strain of ~0.7% is achieved by means of a stress concentration technique that allows the strain level to be customized by carefully selecting certain lithographic dimensions. The partial strain relaxation at the edges of a patterned germanium microd...
